My name is Jorge Alexandre Pereira, and I’m the photographer behind Air Prints, an independent collection of fine art aviation photography based in the Algarve, Portugal.
I’ve always been fascinated by aviation, but what draws me to photographing aircraft goes beyond the machines themselves. It’s the shapes, the engineering, the light and those fleeting moments when everything comes together to create an image worth keeping.
Having grown up in Geneva, Switzerland, and lived in France, Ukraine and now Portugal, travelling has always been part of my life. Along the way, airports became more than just places of departure and arrival. They became places where I could combine two of my greatest interests: aviation and photography.
My passion for architectural photography also influences the way I see aircraft. I look for clean lines, interesting perspectives, symmetry and the relationship between a subject and its surroundings. Sometimes, a close-up of a wing, an engine or a cockpit can tell a more interesting story than a photograph of the entire aircraft.
For me, it’s not simply about photographing aeroplanes. It’s about capturing their character.
Behind the lens
Every photograph in the Air Prints collection is my own original work, captured during my travels or closer to home at Faro Airport.
Some of my favourite images were taken in beautiful afternoon light, while others came from grey, overcast days when dramatic skies transformed an ordinary aircraft movement into something special.
I particularly enjoy the challenge of finding a different perspective on a familiar subject. Whether it’s the distinctive nose of a Boeing 747, the elegant curves of a modern airliner or the reflections on an aircraft fuselage, there’s always something new to discover.
I photograph mainly with Sony mirrorless cameras, the α7R V and the α7R III, paired with lenses such as the Samyang AF 35–150 mm, the Sony FE 200–600 mm, the Tamron 150–500 mm and a 70–300 mm telephoto. On my travels I also use my phone, currently a Xiaomi 17 Ultra with Leica optics. I carefully edit each image myself. My approach to editing is simple: enhance the atmosphere, light and colours while preserving the authenticity of the aircraft and the moment.
I want my photographs to feel artistic without losing what makes aviation photography special: the real aircraft, the real details and the real moment.
From my camera to your wall
Air Prints was created to bring aviation photography beyond the screen and into the spaces where we live and work.
I believe a great aviation photograph deserves more than a few seconds on a social media feed. Printed properly, it becomes something you can appreciate every day, whether you’re an aviation enthusiast, a pilot, a frequent traveller or simply someone who enjoys beautiful photography.
Every print is produced to order by a professional photographic laboratory in Portugal, with particular attention to detail, colour and image quality.
All photographs are available as open-edition prints, supplied unframed so you can choose the presentation that best suits your space.
You’ll also notice my signature on many of the photographs. It’s a small personal detail, included as part of the finished image.
Independent by nature
Air Prints is a personal and independent photography project.
The aircraft, airlines and airports featured in my work are photographed because they inspire me, not because of any commercial relationship. Air Prints is not affiliated with or endorsed by the airlines, airports or aircraft manufacturers represented in the collection.
Every image reflects my own perspective and passion for aviation.
