After dark

Tower watch →

When the departures board empties, the apron changes character. Floodlights throw hard white pools across the concrete, star-shaped glints bloom from the masts, and the aircraft that were simply parked an hour ago become sculptures. Most of these photographs were made on a single long summer night, working slowly around stands and taxiways with long lenses and longer exposures. Some carry faint red light trails from passing ground vehicles; others are almost silent, a single business jet holding its pose under a mast. They suit rooms where you want depth and calm rather than colour shouting from the wall.
