The photograph
Viseu takes to the sky
This TAP Express Embraer regional jet was photographed climbing out of Faro Airport in September 2020. It carries the name "Viseu" near the cockpit, and its red-and-green tail and the "express" titles on the forward fuselage are crisp against a sky of soft, pearly grey cloud.
The aircraft is caught banking slightly, gear just starting to fold into the wells, with the engines and wing underside in clear detail. The vignette edit draws the sky darker towards the corners, leaving a lighter halo around the aircraft.
The name "Viseu" is painted near the forward door, a detail that only becomes readable at the larger print sizes. The photograph was made with a long lens from the airport perimeter, catching the aircraft as it turned away from the runway heading.
A gentle, uplifting print with a distinctly Portuguese subject, ideal for anyone who has flown TAP's domestic and regional network.
Photographed on 13 September 2020 with a Sony α7 III at a focal length of 200 mm.
