The photograph
Fog at Logan
Just after six in the morning, fog had swallowed Boston Logan almost completely. The floodlights became soft globes, the hangars faded into grey, and a Japan Airlines widebody stood on a rain-soaked apron that reflected every light around it.
The photograph is built from very little: a dark sky, the white shape of the aircraft, the silver sheen on the wet concrete and a few bright yellow pieces of ground equipment in the lower left. Painted taxi lines curve through the darkness and lead the eye towards the aircraft.
Moody and cinematic, it suits darker interiors and anyone who has waited out bad weather at an airport. Offered in A4 and A3+, the sizes the original phone capture supports in full detail.
Photographed on 3 March 2024 at a focal length of 5 mm.
