The photograph
Cape Town turn
Photographed from the terminal at Cape Town International, this South African Airways Airbus is caught mid-turn on the apron, its flag-coloured tail and titles the only real colour in a cool, desaturated scene.
The edit uses a shallow band of focus, so the aircraft is crisp while the parked jets behind and the concrete in front melt away. The effect makes the full-size airliner look almost like a scale model on a tabletop, a playful contrast with the real weight of the machine.
An unusual, light-hearted print for offices and family rooms, and a reminder of journeys to the Cape. Offered in A4 and A3+, the sizes the original file supports in full detail.
Photographed on 27 November 2023 at a focal length of 7 mm.
