The photograph
Pushback
Pushback is one of those routine moments passengers rarely see from outside. Here a Transavia Airbus is coupled to its tug, the airline's name in huge dark-green letters running across the fuselage, the engine and main gear in sharp detail beneath the wing.
A ground handler in a high-visibility vest stands by the tug, small in the frame and seen side-on, giving the scene its human scale. Warm, pale concrete fills the background and soft daylight keeps the whites clean.
Ramp work is precise and highly choreographed, and this frame captures a calm moment just before movement begins. The tug's colourful livery adds a playful note against the restrained white and green of the aircraft.
A good print for anyone who works on the ramp or simply enjoys the choreography of an airport, and an easy fit for bright, modern interiors.
Photographed on 16 August 2025 with a Sony α7R IIIA at a focal length of 433 mm.
