The photograph
Turbofan in daylight
Standing beside an airliner on the apron, the photograph puts the engine at the centre of everything. The smooth silver nacelle forms a near-perfect circle, the fan blades curve like dark petals around a white spiral painted on the spinner, and the wing stretches away to the right.
Above, the airline's large lettering and an orange stripe run along the fuselage, with a deep blue sky and white cloud behind the tail. The strong contrast and tight framing give a familiar object a monumental, almost sculptural quality.
A bold print for offices, workshops and anyone fascinated by engineering. Offered in A4 and A3+, the sizes the original phone capture supports in full detail.
Photographed on 21 March 2024 at a focal length of 7 mm.
