The photograph
Spiral heart
Stand in front of a modern turbofan and the first thing you notice is the fan: wide, curved blades that sweep around the centre like the petals of a mechanical flower. This photograph fills the frame with exactly that view, the spinner and its white spiral marking at the heart of the composition and the nacelle's smooth inner lip curving around the edge.
The edit leans into cool tones, silver blades against deep indigo shadows, which gives the engine an almost abstract, sculptural presence. Fine surface details, from the acoustic panels to small marks on the cowling, keep it honest and real.
This is the one photograph in the collection made with a phone camera, a high-resolution sensor that captured enough detail for every print size. The original's 3:4 shape is cropped to the print proportions, and a crop proof is supplied for approval.
Made at Faro Airport in March 2026, this is a striking portrait-format print for offices, workshops and modern interiors, and a favourite with engineers.
Photographed on 26 March 2026 with a Xiaomi 17 Ultra (phone).
